Description
Booger is a multitouch-driven game, in which you must guide a network of slime through a maze using all your fingers. In order to beat the levels, you will need to plan carefully in which order you place your fingers on the screen, without tying your fingers into a knot!
History
Booger started out as a student project at the University of Utrecht way back in 2010.
The objective of the project was to create a game that could *only* be played on multitouch surfaces - like the iPad.
Since I was a wee poor penniless student, I had to create my own touch device out of low-budget materials.
The device that was built wasn't particularly sturdy, but at least it looked pretty rad!
You can see what it looks like in the picture right here.
Alas, it mostly consisted out of borrowed materials - like the Lego Duplo blocks, so the device had to be demolished after my research project had finished.
One year later, the Dutch Game Garden allowed me to develop this game on their Microsoft Surface v1.
This version of Booger applied for the Dutch Game Awards in November 2011, for which it received two nominations in the categories “Best Student Game” and “Best Original Game Design”.
You can watch a video of this iteration of Booger here.
After developing the game for the Surface, I still wanted to share this game with others.
And since no-one had a Microsoft Surface v1 in their homes, I decided to target a more commonplace piece of hardware: the iPad!
Since my studies had come to an end and I started working full-time, the Booger project was continued as a hobby project during my spare hours in the weekend and holidays.
Finally, fast-forward all the way to 2019, Booger is finally complete and ready to be shared with the world!
